Our
Roots
Our story
Solihull Day Care was founded in 2008 and has been based at the Saint Martin’s Campus of Solihull School since inception. Relocated to larger and refurbished premises in 2019, our aim is to provide a caring and nurturing environment where children have the power to play and follow their interests with the love, care and support of our dedicated team.
Fully supported by the strength and reach of Solihull School, we are committed to a culture of excellence and a celebration of the magic moments in childhood.
Our approach
We’re friendly and approachable! We like to be on first name terms with parents and carers and have a partnership approach to the care and development of your child.
We nurture each child as an individual, encouraging them to explore the curiosities that their world presents them with, whilst facilitating new learning experiences from all that surrounds them in our rich environments.
Our skilled practitioners build trusted relationships with the children and follow their interests to cultivate their skills;
To grow and flourish, babies and young children need strong roots in their personal, social and emotional development. Only when they feel settled, secure and bonded with their KEY WORKER will they be ready to learn.
The stem of learning is provided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is followed by all nurseries and preschools in England.
This is a strong, mutually supportive combination of seven key areas of learning; Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
We take these seven areas and build on them to follow a rich and ever-changing curriculum which stretches in different directions depending upon the influences of individual children and families. We are not rigid in our approach but enable children to follow their own interests, supported by our skilful team of practitioners.
Inclusivity
At Solihull Day Care, we pride ourselves on being fully inclusive and actively celebrate diversity. We are experienced at providing personalised routines for children with specialist needs. We have a specialist team of three practitioners, who are trained to work with children with SEN.
We always start with the child, get to know them and help them feel settled and comfortable and we work closely with parents/carers and external advisors to create an individual plan to help your child thrive.
Solihull
Day care
magic
Every moment is an opportunity for a child to experience or encounter something magical.
At Solihull Day Care we harness this magic by:
- Understanding each child and encouraging them to follow their own interests
- Creating environments & opportunities that inspire awe and wonder
- Seeking and highlighting the fun and delight in everything we do
- Our role is to enable, capture & celebrate these magic moments in a child’s early years
A partnership
We understand the many challenges facing parents as they juggle workloads and family life. Whether you wish to establish successful routines, learn about healthy nutrition, manage challenging behaviours or start potty training, our staff are there to help and support you.
We work to build strong relationships with parents, where they feel involved and listened to, because this is fundamental to understanding each child and helping them reach their full potential.
